My personal collection - Part 1

Today I'm introducing a new column which will not be focused on my own mods. As a tribute to some of my favorite modders I have decided to showcase the best items in my personal male armor and clothes collection.
I'm starting with one of the most honorable members of the Oblivion modding scene: Chakaru! She's always been  a source of inspiration for me, her mods are pure magic! She's always pushed herself beyond the limits of Oblivion's engine, creating things I'd never imagine to see in game. Plus, she's very much likely a fan of steampunk stuff, which is something I love! I was in a bliss when I found out she's modding for the boys, too! If you want to learn more about her visit Chakaru's Hawkhaven, you won't regret it!

 Gunslayer Legend
This is a male outfit ported to Oblivion from the game Gunslayer Legend. As a bonus, the download also includes a wig from Final Fantasy XIII, not showed here.

 Belphe's Travelling Gear Male
This wonderful mash-up was originally made for female characters but Chakaru decided to make a male version as well (hurray!). Most pieces come from Skyrim and there are several props adorning it. These include a book, a sword, a quiver, potions and ingredients. It's really impressive!
A super secret outfit comes with the archive as a bonus!

 Tera Highelf Male
Although Chakaru's videocard got fried, nothing could prevent her from modding. This outfit comes from Tera but it's still a WIP, infact the arms didn't show up properly in game. However a few changes in nifskope should be enough to fix the problem.

The second modder I want to pay homage to is Kiki. His Baron Armor had a great success years ago, and some time later he released the Sylvan Armor. His armors are based on original designs of his (or at least they are modeled from scratch, no ripped content from other games is involved) and always include both male and female variants. Today I'm showing you two of his most recent works.

 Gallant Armor
This is a white heavy armor based on the Elvaan Paladin set from Final Fantasy XI Online. A shield is included and a tiara comes as a bonus.

Download

 Haubergeon
This armor is modeled off the Haubergeon set from Final Fantasy XIV. It comes in two variations and includes an optional beltpack and flask. I very much like this armor! Its is tight-fitting and the textures are very well detailed.

I love this idea. I'm not playing as male characters but I'm sure there's many people who do and they may have problem with finding good looking male gear. We all know that Oblivion modding scene is possesed by female-only works. Hope to see more parts and tributes in future.
I don't know how big your collection is, so you probably know these ones but take a look at Andragorn's work (he made amazing armors for both genders, as well as some great weapons), monk_ide's Spartacus and Scout armor and Conifer's "Dark Woods". Those mods seems to be forgotten. TheRoadstroker, jojjo and Slof do not need introduction but tributes to them would be great too ;)

And I just had to say that Eli look great with dark hair and this hairstyle. He look good as a blond too but in my opinion dark hair just suit him better ;)

Keep up great work! And best wishes!
(And just one small thing, take a look at the "you want regret it!" phrase. It's a typo, doesnt it?)

Aww. Forget to mention about Suhoi72 amazing leather armor. You can find it in "Witcher bastard " mod as a ressource.

Hi Anyee, thank you so much for you comment and for listing those awesome armors! I'll try to include them in my future posts in order to track them down more quickly. Monk Ide is a dear friend to me, I also made a retexture of his Spartacus armor. Several years ago he sent me an original armor model of his that still needs a texture. Unfortunately I never had the time to do the job so it's still buried in my storage unit. My collection is pretty big, I haven't even had the time to test everything in game. Some things are pretty rare and sadly I'm not allowed to share them.

I'm so glad you noticed the changes I made to Eli. Dark hair suits him a lot better and makes him look much more like his elder brother Kyle. I will share him as a playable character soon along with an unreleased male conversion of the Chantry Seeker armor from Dragon Age and a scripted dual-wield sword. The sword has a particle emitter attached which generates feathers that twist and twirl around the blade. I need to add an enchantment to it but I can't decide which one. Any suggestions?

Also thank you for pointing out my spelling mistake - shame on me!!! XD

    You're welcome :)
I really appreciate your work and I'm trying to be just a little helpful with it. As my modding skill is awful all I can is encourage artist like you.
About Monk's - he is one of my favourte modellers. However his most impressed works was never released. I'm talking about Ezio gear, Spartacus snake, Darth Vader (I love lore but SW is just too epic to do not add it to game!) and the unnamed female armor wip. I love the last one especially. Can you thank him for all his works in my name? I should do it myself as well as give endorsements but my account situation on Nexus is complicated.

Dual wielding is my favourite thing of all time so I'm more than glad that you have plan to release the swords. May I ask how the script works? And is there any turtorial how to do it? I'm dreaming about dual-wield version of Wyrmfang and Talon of Akatosh *, *
For enchant idea - I rarely use enchants in Oblivion due to the ugly visual effects. But if theres feathers around sword then why do not add an Feather enchant? It make sense.

And btw - Eli has a brother? Did you ever post a shot of him? I'd love to see him!

Dual-wield scripts are less complicated than one might think and don't require OBSE. Unfortunately there are no tutorials out there, from what I know. Basically you need three instances of the same blade, one for the right hand, one for the left hand and one for the back. The right hand sword is just a regular one hand sword. The off-hand sword is actually a shield and can be easily created in nifskope by editing an existing shield and replacing its mesh with a copy of the one hand sword. Of course the sword model must be translated and rotated in order to place its handle exactly where the shield's handle was. The back sword is a two-handed sword and the nif looks like two crossing swords. After creating the instances in the Construction Set you can just copy/paste the script from another dual-wield mod and change the IDs of the swords in it. The script must be attached to the one hand sword. It works roughly like this: when the sword is equipped the shield is added to the player's inventory and equipped along with the one hand sword as soon as this is unsheated. When the sword is sheated both items are replaced with the two-handed model, which goes on the back. It works like a charm!

I don't think a feather enchantment can be useful on weapons. I need to add an offensive power to the sword and some kind of bonus to the shield. I'll have to think about it...

And yes, Eli has a brother but they don't know each other. It's part of their background story. You made me realize that I've never shown a picture of Kyle, even though he was the first characer I've ever created in Oblivion. The cool thing is that no matter which head mesh and face texture I use, he always looks good, ahah! I'm reworking all of my characters now to give them unique features. Hopefully I'll start revamping Kyle soon so I can show him to the world. :)

P.S. I'll give your message to Monk Ide as soon as I catch him online and I will also investigate about his unreleased stuff. ;)

Thank you so much for the explanation and hints! I definitely gonna try them when my Oblivion back to life again.
So, the whole work can be done in Nifskope and CS? No Blender work needed? Sweet, cause all I can do in Blender is simple duplicate, mirror and sculpting work. I even make conversions using sculpt Grab tool cause it have the X-Symmetry option which Edit mode do not have. Noobish work I know, but it works! =)

And you are so lucky with Kyle. He really look so well? Can't wait to see him. I remember my old characters using one of Head06 variants. They were pretty but ONLY when the light fall straight on their faces. In every other lighting they look like something between Forever-Alone meme and Morphy from Disney's "Treasure Planet" movie. I really envy your boys. They are so photogenic *, *

    Cheers and best wishes ;)
(Sorry if my english is sometimes painfull to read. I'm still learning it)

You're more than welcome! And again, thank you for your comments. I'm glad to see there's someone who follows this blog.

Oblivion lighting is an eyesore, I know. But I'm happy you like my characters. I'll try to show a picture of Kyle soon.

Anyway, your English is just perfect to me! Besides I'm not a native speaker, so I'm not in the position to give a negative opinion. ;)
