Hey everyone! For those of you who've been following my Oblivion modding adventures, you'll remember Aaron, my custom companion mod released back in 2014. Well, after years of requests and my own tinkering, I'm thrilled to announce a major update! This isn't just a few tweaks - it's a complete overhaul designed to address long-standing issues and add exciting new features.
This update brings a plethora of improvements to Aaron's appearance and functionality, focusing on fixing glitches and enhancing his overall experience. Here's a breakdown of the key changes:
- Goodbye, Neck Seam! The infamous neck seam that plagued Aaron's original model is finally gone! Both the mesh and textures have been meticulously mended, resulting in a much smoother, more natural appearance.
- The Dragon Necklace is Free! As a result of fixing the neck seam, the previously integrated dragon necklace is now a standalone item. You can equip it as a regular piece of jewelry, completely separate from Aaron's armor and outfits.
- Playable Aaron, Made Easier! Aaron's facial data has been reorganized. Now, it’s entirely within his race record. This means playing as Aaron is significantly easier. Simply select his race, reset his face, and enjoy! Remember, you'll need a custom race fix to use this feature.
- Blockhead Support - Stripped Down and Ready to Pose! For those who use the Blockhead OBSE plugin, Aaron's heavy muscular physique will now automatically appear when he's unclothed. This offers seamless integration and a more realistic experience.
- No more naked Aaron clones in the Testing Hall! Aaron's GGC dummy has been banished to its own private cell.
- Aaron's Body Bag (For Non-Blockhead Users): If you don't use Blockhead, don't worry! An "Aaron's Body Bag" item will be added to your inventory upon selecting Aaron's race. This bag contains his body parts as wearable items.
- Improved Animations with Blockhead Support: Aaron's custom animations now fully support Blockhead, permanently solving the issue of awkward posing when taking screenshots. Prepare for those perfect shots!
- Facial Refinements: Several facial details have been enhanced, including:
- A completely remade beard for a more natural look.
- Relocated lacrimal caruncles (those little fleshy bits in the corner of your eyes) to prevent them from disappearing when wearing helmets.
- A slight face shape edit to eliminate that pesky double chin.
This update represents a significant leap forward for Aaron. I've poured a lot of effort into making him the best possible companion, and I hope you enjoy these improvements. The updated mod is available for download here: GGC Companion Aaron.
